[net.music] More on Hawkwind

I was amazed about the response I got in the mail about Hawkwind! Several
of the people that wrote to me asked me what albums I have and what I thought
of them. Here it is:

1Doremi Faso Latido: I think this is one of if not the best Hawkwind album. I
always thought that "Lord of Light" and "Down Through the Night" were two of
 their best songs.

2 The Space Ritual (live album): This was my first Hawkwind album and if someone
didn't tell me I wouldn't even know it was a live album. I only wish I could
have seen them perform songs like "Sonic Attack" and "10 Seconds of Forever".
I think this is also a great album.

3 In Search of Space: This album goes on my list of one song albums. I like
the song "Master of the Universe" but otherwise I feel this album brings out
the worst qualities of Hawkwind, i.e. beating one riff into the ground.(e.g.
  "Shouldn't Do That"

4 In the Hall of the Mountain Grill: I think this one's another great album.
It was interesting to hear Lemmy sing on "Lost Johnny". In fact, I've seen
"Lost Johnny" on several Motorhead albums (Lemmy's current band)

5 Warrior on The Edge of Time: A good album. I always saw this album as the one
you listen to in a dark room after taking seven or eight mind altering drugs.
(Although this could be said about any of their albums)The songs that are just
poetry are what I think make this album a little weak.

6 Quark Strangeness and Charm: I always felt the title track of this album was
Hawkwind's sole attempt at top 40 pop. I like this album alot but the bass is
definitely not the same without Lemmy the Lurch.

7 Hawklords: I enjoyed this album alot but if you despise new wave I wouldn't
reccommend it. It tends to have a more modern sound to it than other Hawkwind
albums. I think the cover was a deodorant commercial in a previous life.

8 Hawkwind Live 70-72: Possibly the worst recorded album I've ever heard. This
was my most recent purchase ( It was just released in 84, it has a blue cover)
and I wasn't happy that I shelled out $12.50 for it. Definitely not worth it.

Well there's my list of Hawkwind albums ( Iguess my estimate of five was a
little low ) Anyone out there heard the song by Hawkwind called Motorhead?
Lemmy wrote it. I've heard the Motorhead version but I wasn't that impressed.
Well, as someone else said, Space is Deep.
