[net.micro.cbm] PaperClip sort

Re: Sorting problem with Paperclip running on a C64...

Well, I guess I solved my own problem. Paperclip uses (by default) the
space character to seperate the fields you wish to sort. If you request
a column sort and further specify that leading blanks are not to be ignored,
Paperclip seems to get confused -- if blanks (spaces) count in the sort and
spaces are used as delimiters as well, then it seems to be unable to tell
where the fields are. I'm guessing, of course, but the end result is that
it won't sort anything if spaces count in the sort.

Fortunately, there is an easy way to fix the problem. You can easily select
another (other than a space) sorting delimiter. I used a shifted space,
but almost anything seems to work. You don't actually have to put the
delimiter in the text (which seems kind of odd), you just have to *select*
something other than a space.

Although the command to select a sorting delimiter is discussed in the
manual, it is not mentioned that you must select something other than
the default space delimiter if you wish to not ignore the leading blanks
in a sort.

Hope this helped someone besides just me...
