I've recently discovered one of the few remaining uses that a VIC has (:-)) but
,in trying to use my VICMODEM to talk to the outside world, I have found that
I can communicate with local bulletin boards and local UNIX systems without
any problem but I lose characters when I try to talk with the local DATAPAC
line or the University's VM/CMS system. I know that I've got all of the
settings set correctly when I'm talking to CMS so I know that that's not
the problem. I suspect that the program that I'm using (VICTERM; the one
that came with the modem) is the source of the problem. Has anyone else
had similar problems? Can anyone suggest a solution (e.g. the name of
a better terminal program, a fix to apply, etc.)? In all cases, the
hosts operate at 300 baud.
Also, does anyone know of a good 40 or 80 column emulator for the VIC?
Reading news or working on a C program with a 22 column screen is the pits!
Please respond by mail. Thanks.
