[net.micro.cbm] Terminal Emulation, RS232C, V.23 1200/75 speed

jmg@cernvax.UUCP (jmg) (03/29/85)

I am busy making my 64 work as a terminal. Have got the PLUS/TERM of the
February edition of Compute! working, together with SCREEN.80 (how the
hell do I customise the character set?). I hope to get Kermit working soon.
NOW:
Here in little old Europe we got lotsa cheap modems running the V.23
1200/75 full duplex (1200 baud recieve, 75 baud send on the auxiliary
channel). I think it is possible to get this working on 64s (!) but I do
not know how. The channel open command requires setting the desired speed:
lots of options, but always the same in two directions.
SO:
Has anyone done what I want to do? If so, how? Must I (can I) open two
simultaneous channels at different speeds? Must I close and reopen each
time that I want to send? Are there mysterious extra options to RS232 open
commands? Strange locations to be plugged? Might it all work anyway if I
say 1200 baud?
C64 RS232 Wizards, please help.
