We are planning to purchase a Commodore 64 for our 10 year old son and need some information. It seems everyone in this area is selling the basic unit for $149.00. Is there a mail order house etc. that might be cheaper? We can get a 1541 disk drive for $179.00. Is this good? Can an add on RS-232 port be gotten? I have a 1200 baud USI 212A modem and would like to use it. Would buying the 300 baud unit for the Commodore be just as cheap? Are any faster units available? What would be a good color monitor to get with this unit? Can you also get a TV tuner for use with this monitor? I would also like to get a near letter quality printer. Any suggestions? Finally, what sort of software or other gadgets would you feel is necessary to get started with? He wants Zork and I would like a good word processor. Sorry for all the questions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. -- Dave Williams Tektronix, Inc. Engineering Computing Systems "6000" "The workstations that made Wilsonville famous."
