Around christmas they were predicting > release along with the C128, and thos puppies are just starting to > see light. Is the lap top close at hand? From Electronic Engineering Times, May 6, p.6: Commodore Delays Laptop Shipments, Will Sell LCD Panels to OEMs ...Carol Knight, an engineer with Commodore's newly relocated LCD group at Commodore's West Chester, Pa., headquarters, says that the the [sic] delay in the portable's introduction has been due to a re-engineering of its LCD panel display. Knight says that the passive LCD techonology shown last January was "the best passive display available, but not good enough," for Commodore to advance past other established laptop suppliers, such as NEC America Inc. and Tandy Corp. ...active LCD screens...are expected to offer far better contrast, and more forgiving viewing angles... [the article did not mention any date for introduction of the laptop with active LCD screen, nor did it actually state in so many words that the laptop would have an active LCD screen although that was the obvious conclusion] -- Doug Pardee -- Terak Corp. -- !{ihnp4,seismo,decvax}!noao!terak!doug ^^^^^--- soon to be CalComp
