[net.micro.cbm] COMPUTE'S SpeedScript 3.0 Update.

psrfb@mhuxa.UUCP (BENJAMIN) (05/15/85)

From COMPUTE! May 1985.

Three bugs were found in both versions of SpeedScript 3.0 for the
C64 (March 1985) and VIC-20 (April 1985). These errors are in both
program listings and the COMPUTE! disk for those issues.

The bugs were:

	1. The buffer was supposed to be preserved after Erase All or
a Load. However it was preserved only after a Load (usefull
for transfering text between files), but not after an Erase
	   All (SHIFT-CLR/HOME).

	2. The cursor somtimes does not appear when you first
	   SpeedScript 3.0 .

	3. Dual-Drive users were unable to access Drive 1 when loading
	   and saving.

Steps to correct bugs:

	1. Load SpeedScript, BUT DO NOT RUN IT!

	2. At the READY prompt enter one of the following lines without
a line number and press RETURN:

           For the C64:
           POKE 2547,96:POKE 4316,200:POKE 4946,234:POKE 4947,234:
           POKE 7716,49

           For the VIC-20:
	   POKE 4625,1:POKE 5095,96:POKE 7370,234:POKE 7371,234

	3. Immediately resave SpeedScript by entering SAVE"filename"
for tape or SAVE"filename",8 for disk.

Additional information:

	1. You can press CTRL-4 to display the disk directory, (not
mentioned in either article, but shown on keyboard map) and
pressing any key pauses the directory listing. Press RETURN
to exit back to editing. (remember this does not affect any
	   text in memory)

	2. In the "File Converter" program, C64 version in March 1985
issue, (Program 2, pg.137) the modem option does not function
properly and SHOULD NOT BE USED to transfer SpeedScript files
over a modem. You should instead create ASCII files on disk,
then use terminal program with upload/download capibility
such "PLUS/TERM" from COMPUTE'S Feburary issue.
