The June 1985 COMPUTE's Gazette has a mini-review of both 'Bank Street Music Writer' (Mindscape, Inc.) and 'Allegro' (Artworx Software, Inc.). The descriptions given imply that the '..Music Writer' doesn't fully use the SID, but has musical-staff editing and quick playback, while 'Allegro' uses the author's 'Forte' language which is compiled (therefore allowing more flexible use of the SID but longer turnaround time, note-entry- to-ear). I would like to hear any opinions (preferably informed) on the use of these 2 systems. Has anyone out there heard any more on the 'Allegro' than is printed in Gazette? It sounds like the sort of flexibility I would prefer, but I'd like to hear any negative comments or big pluses before I buy it. Please send mail or post to the net.
