[net.micro.cbm] Abacus C Compiler for Commodore 64

alan@ariel.UUCP (A. YORINKS) (07/01/85)

I have just received the C compiler Abacus Software is marketing
for Data Becker. It has a decent (but somewhate strange) screen editor,
linker, and compiler that allows one to generate executable code that
can be called from Basic or from the C system.

It is supposed to be Kernighan and Richie compatible. From
the documentation it would appear that this is true. The documentation
is excellent and the compiler seems to be fast. I will be running
some benchmarks and will advise of my findings in the near future.

One drawback (maybe) is that the system does not generate assembly
source nor does it directly link to assembler programs. This is no
big deal and I believe can be gotten around.
If anyone is interested in any specifics please let me know and
I will try to help.
