[net.micro.cbm] EPYX Fastload

GKG@psuvm.BITNET (07/31/85)

I've been using the fastload cartridge for about 7 months.
It seems to work very well for the most part, but I have
experienced some of the problems mentioned. Sometimes
when I'm working, it scrambles the directory. However, this
doesn't seem to affect the directory sector on the disk.
Therefore to fix the problem, I just remove the disk, insert
a different one, ask for a directory from the new disk, and
then re-insert the old disk. The directory is then as it should
be. One thing that i have noted is that when it scrabbles the
directory, if i edit the disk's directory sector it shows it
scrabbled. But if i perform the above mentioned procedure, there
is no harm done to the disk. The only thing i can think of
as to why it does this is that it must save a copy of the
directory and refer to it, and that somehow that copy is altered,
thus giving the scrabbled appearance.
Other than that i've had no trouble, except for a few programs
that won't load with the cartridge in.
