[net.micro.cbm] Kermit 1.6 Help Needed

whizzo@mit-eddie.UUCP (David Hardy) (08/10/85)

I am having all kinds of trouble getting Kermit 1.6 to do file transfers.
The terminal part works fine, but on UNIX I can occasionally get it to start
receiving a file, but it never finishes. On IBM systems it won't do anything
at all, except eventually give me a 'bAD CHECKSUM'. I have just completed
downloading C64KER.HEX for the third time, twice from BITNET, and once from
FTP. Kermit 1.3 works fine on both machines however. I have noticed that
when I do a show all, things like packet size, line end characters, etc are
not right (and not what they are in 1.3). I have gotten different versions
of the C64KER.INI file, and the latest one from CU20B is the longest. Does
anyone know what this file does, or how I can tell if it came down right?
Once I figured out that this was supposed to be called KERMIT.INI, I at least
was able to get the terminal working (I'm using it now).

Has anyone used this successfully? Anyone know what might be wrong? Please
reply by mail and I'll summarize to the net if there is interest. Thanks in
advance.
