[net.micro.cbm] RS-232 where are you?

eps@houxm.UUCP (E.SWANTEK) (09/11/85)

	Hellloooo,

Has anybody built and tested the "May 1983 BYTE" circuit that
is supposed to convert the V20 or C64 serial port to True RS-232C levels?

I've built the circuit with the idea of connecting it to a 1200 baud
Rixon. I'm somewhat reluctant to fire everything up because my 1984-C64
spent a considerable amount of time in the shop because of production
goof-ups (Honest, I wasn't circuit hashing at the time, I'm too new to
the C64 world.)

I would really appreciate any feedback about your experiances.

						Thanx in advance,

p.s. By the way, Commadore seems to be a great helper-outer with
keeping the customer satisfied. I was never given the usual
90 million numbers to call or any other run-a-round some other
venders tend to give when you have problems.

Yes, I am presently using the device on my 64 without any difficulties.
I have yet to test it out at 1200bps, but on 300 it works great. I know of
a couple of people who are using it at 1200bps sometimes and I haven't
heard anything negative from them yet.
