I am in the market for a printer and word processing program for my C-64. The price range of the the printer will (hopefully) be less than $400 (including interface?). For the word processor, preferably under $100. The minimum features I am looking for the Word Processing program are: the ability to save and re-edit a document in more than one sitting, the ability to move the cursor at least a word at a time on a line, and preferably more than one line at a time in the document, the ability to jump immediately to the top or bottom of the document without scrolling through everything in between, the ability to move, copy, and delete speciified blocks of text, GOOD documentation, For the printer I'm looking for something that is letter quality or nearly so, can do perhaps underlining, boldface, maybe a little graphics, (I'm not sure what to ask for as I have no experience with printers). And, good documentation. The only advice I've got so far is to stay away from "Quick Brown Fox" and a recommendation for the Gemini 10X printer and Cardco interface. Please mail any advice, warnings or recommendations to me, and if there is enough response I will post a summary to the net. ** I picked up Paperback Writer which sells for about $40. It has online help, 40 or 80 column display, and shows italics and bold on the screen. You can skip from word to word, page forward and back, goto top and bottom of document, and search for words. The is also a spell checker available. This word processor has setup files which are used to describe different types of printers. It comes with a few setups and you can add your own if you have a printer not recognized. I really like the fact that italics, bold, and underlining show on the screen just as it will be printed. I also picked up a Canon printer which is available from Protecto for around $200. This is a dot matrix near letter quality printer. I think it comes very close to the Epson FX-85 which lists for $499. Ken Heitke ihlpl!kah120
