The January issue of "Compute!'s Gazette" contained an excellant word
processor program. This is by far the best WP I've used on the C64. It is
written in machine language - so it's very fast compared to Heswriter. It is
also compatable with the "Card?" printer interface -- Heswriter wasn't
completely compatable with that interface - so I was always running into
problems.
It supports the following format commands:
left margin
right margin
top margin
bottom margin
define header
define footer
underline toggle (I haven't tried this yet)
center a line
edge right (only works on the lines you specify)
page number
9 user defined ASCII codes (such as chr$(27) for ESC)
It supports the following editing commands:
Change case (upper/lower)
change background color
delete (word, sentence, or paragraph)
erase (word, sentence, or paragraph)
hunt (for words or strings)
insert mode
clear buffer
change letter color
print
recall buffer
verify (stored text)
go to end of document
go to top of document
disk directory
send dos command
next/previous word, sentence, or paragraph
load/save
5 space tab
You can send the same dos commands that are in the dos wedge, except you
use an up-arrow instead of the at sign.
The only feature I didn't find that I would have liked to see, was right
justify the text. This makes letters and text appear much more professional.
But, for the cost of a magazine and about 6 hours of hacking at the keyboard
--- it was definitely worth it!!! I highly recommend it to everyone but the
nit-picky.

C= Hi! Has anyone ever heard of SpeedScript. (VIC-20 version). I got an OLD issue of Computes! Gazette (jan 1984) to be exact, and type in the whole mess by hand. Lo and behold the program crashes everytime I hit the DELETE key [at least this bug is on an infrequently used key! :-) ]. Is this an act of God or a recognized glitch which was fixed in a later issue of Computes! Gazette? (By the way, the C-64 version works OK). Any info, (even Rumors and lies) will be MOST appreciated!
