[net.micro.cbm] CP/M on the 128

macdonald@author.DEC (Corporate User Publications) (12/06/85)

The CP/M diskette is actually single-sided. A double-sided drive
like the 1571 cannot read both sides unless you flip the diskette
over. This was done to favor users of the 128 who only have 1541
single-sided drive. You can PIP all the files over to a double-
sided drive though.

The CP/M you received in the mail contains a version date on the
screen. August 1 is the current version. It fixes a number of
bugs in the June 1 release including a keyboard scan bug that
resulted in double characters being printed. There is actually
a November 1 version that has not been mailed out yet. It contains
the telecommunications output with support for the RS232 port.
Commodore is in the middle of busy season and probably won't
distribute the new system until after the holidays. Note, that you
must send in your CP/M registration card to qualify for the free
upgrade.
