Re: Kate Bush, Dreaming, et al.

Actually, all I've got to say about that is; Gregbo, I'm beginning to
see what you meant in your letter.

Anyway, on to commenting on another of Doug's P.S.'s:

> P.S. I don't see anything exceptionally innovative about the album
> "Everything but the Girl", though I wouldn't argue with the term
> "competent".

Yeah, so George kinda stretched it by calling "Everything *but* the Girl"
innovative. 'Competent' isn't the first word that comes to mind either.
It's the honest feel of the music and the strength of the vocals and lyrics
that make the album a gem. Also, you'd have to be right out of your head to
call this album 'commercial'!

And while I'm in this territory, anyone out there heard of good old John
Martyn (that is not a misspelling)? Anyone who appreciates "Everything
but ..." would probably love John Martyn's _Grace and Danger_ album.
John has a similar light rock/light jazzy texture, but has more of an edge
to his music and is very innovative. Phil Collins played drums on this
album, but this was back when Phil was into some very interesting (and very
good!), non-commercial stuff (like early Brand X). Sounds nothing like the
Phil we know today. _Grace and Danger_ is really an excellant album.
