I recently bought an Enhancer 2000 disk drive for my C64. I have had it for 3 weeks. It seems to be 100% compatible as advertised and it works with my copiers and with my Fast Load. It will format a disk in about 20 seconds. Since the power pack is outside the machine, the disk drive does not overheat. Since it does not overheat and it is smaller, it can be stored in more desireable locations on a computer table. I suspect this disk drive is more durable than the 1541. The Enhancer advertises 10,000 MTBF. MTBF stands for Mean Time Between Failure. It also comes with a 1 year warrenty and an optional 2nd year for $35. So far, I recommend it over the 1541. I am tired of 1541 disk drive failure. It is also slightly cheaper, $170. Gregory Gibson {decvax,ucbvax,ihnp4}!trwrb!trwrba!gibson
