In the Programmer's Reference Manual, there are two places (openly) that can be used for resetting externally. One is on the serial bus and the other is in the cartridge port. Some advice given to me recently stated that puting a switch in to short these pins/leads necessary can cause dire (64 blowing) consequences on some of the 64's due to arc-back. The advice given was to buffer the short by using a diode so that current can flow only in one direction. This buffering can save grief at a later date if you do get arc-back without it. A number of members of our local user's group have had these reset switches installed in the EPYX Fastload cartridges and have been having some of the chips in the drives (1541) burn out. Other users groups have reported trouble with the EPYX cartridge but some members are using it with no problems (without resets). No direct evidence is available (or possibly suspect) that a reset could be doing any harm to the drives (perhaps the switch exaserbates the EPYX problem). This is just a additional *caveat* to consider.... astrix (Lou R.
