[net.micro.cbm] vt100 emulator for C128

No, I haven't seen what you want. Just a note about a package called
MircoVT 128 recently downloaded from Genie. The VT100 emulation is severely
flawed (e.g. clear tabs works, but set tabs doesn't - so much for the termcap
initialization file). The package also is very awkward to use with a manual
modem at 1200 baud (getting it to look for the carrier detect takes considerable
persuasion, and it refuses to do XMODEM transfers without carrier detect). The
program has lots of fancy features - too bad it couldn't get the basics
(i.e. the terminal emulation) right.

Note: it's a shame the VT100 set of capabilities has become more or less a
standard, because, in addition to being quite a complicated and extensive
protocol (thus explaining why so few emulators get it right, even in expensive
commercially available terminals), it doesn't provide support for insert-
character and delete-character, and provides only an awkward form of insert-line
and delete-line (via the scrolling region settings). Much simpler protocols
like the ADM31 provide these as standard, and they make a big difference in
editing, especially at low baud rates.

I for one agree that the vt100 emulator for the 128 is pretty hack.
I have mine working well enough to get by, but it is still
disappointing. I gave info regarding the use of the VT100 keypad.
I also gave bad info. You must first load in (alt-K) the
`gold.keys' and then they will work without having to use the alt
key. Sorry.
