[net.micro.cbm] letter quality printers

arp@oucs.UUCP (John Gordos) (05/16/86)

          I have a Commodore 64 and I now use a mps-803 printer. This suits
my current needs very well, except for the fact that I need to do quality
printing occasionally. When this happens, I usually use the labs IBM-PC,
but I really would like to be able to do this myself.
This leads into the question I have. Can anyone suggest a GOOD pr that I can hook to the C64? How do I hook it? I need specifics and
a few guidelines. Who makes a good interfacing cable? How much will
      all this cost?

E-Mail to me would be greatly appreciated.

                                              Arp.

John, There are all kinds of nice letter quality printers outthere
what will work fine with the C64/128. One I use is the C.itoh
F10-40 serial printer, it can be hooked up directly to the
serial output on the back of your computer (C64). If you have
Commodore 64 programer's reference guide handy look on page
396 at the serial I/O pinout. Pins 1 thru 5 are all the pins
required to have a F10-40 up and running like clock work.
If you would like I can help you with a diagram showing
how to wire a cable to work with the above mentioned printer.
Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

	Regards Bill Sims (ubsims@ecsvax).

I have an excellent Daisy wheel printer for My C64 called BLUE CHIP
that I bought from the Target dept. store chain for $199. I am very
happy with it. It is from a company in AZ. I don't have the info in
front of me, but anyone is interest...rather enough interested I will
post to the net.
BTW, it comes with everything you need to connect it to your C64
(cables, etc.) and word processing software which I played with a
little and is something like EasyScript.
