[net.micro.cbm] JAFT

<munch>

I am the keeper of the source for JAFT, a TVI910 emulator for the C-64
that was written by a fellow student (Justin McCormick) here at USL.
What I am wondering is:

a) is there a large demand for a terminal emulator of this nature? USL
has a terminal room full of TVI910s, so Justin naturally emulated that
terminal. I see that most people want VT-100 emulators or whatever...
Justin was going to put that into JAFT, but he got an Amiga, so
naturally his C-64 lost its allure. Plus he hasn't gotten to compilers
and scanning theory yet, so he had trouble with the hair of VT100
syntax.

b) should I post the complete sources (about 65K of source written
with the Merlin assembler), just the encoded object, 5k or so (the
Merlin assembler isn't exactly well-known), or nothing at all?

I am not going to mail out individual copies. Our phone bill is
already running in the thousands of dollars...

Actually, what I'm sort of hoping is that somebody has the time to
hack away at JAFT and add some useful features like xmodem transfers,
screen dumps, etc... right now I'm doing extensive ML work on a
program my brother is writing (which hopefully will be commercially
successful in its niche market), and don't have time to mess with
JAFT.

This is the cover letter for JAFT, which is a TVI910 emulator for the
Commodore 64. JAFT is being posted in net.sources because of several
requests from the C-64 contingent for a terminal program that works
well with UNIX. No other C-64 programs are being planned for upload,
and I advise Commodore people to log into Quantum Link for their
public domain software, because it's much cheaper than uuencoding
Commodore binaries and sending them around the world. The sole reason
this is being posted is because of the Unix connection (need for a
terminal program to use with Unix).
