From: <ferrill@eglin-vax> I'm looking for information on the file format of a word processor for the C-64 called OmniWriter. I need to move some files from the 64 over to an IBM-PC but can't figure out how the files are stored. I can get the file over a modem to the PC but no idea how to convert them. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Reply to the net or directly to my ARPA address below. Paul Ferrill ferrill@eglin-vax.arpa ------

I did a similar thing awhile back, when I was using a CBM 8032 at work to print out the texts I wrote on the C64 at home. Each OmniWriter format code translates to a single character, and all of the normal text is stored in an unusual format (maybe screen codes, I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't the normal PETSCII (or HalfASCII, as we call it here) code). Check toward the end of your manual, though, they have a whole chapter (or was it appendix?) on reading OmniWriter files with other programs. -- /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Dave Haynie {caip,ihnp4,allegra,seismo}!cbmvax!daveh "I don't feel safe in this world no more, I don't want to die in a nuclear war, I want to sail away to a distant shore And live like an ape man." -The Kinks These opinions are my own, though for a small fee they be yours too. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
