There is a real problem with widespread knowledge about nude beaches, etc. Locally, there has been for several years a beach on a local lake which allowed nudity. That is, a public beach which officially permitted it. These things must be uncommon, as it got amazingly wide coverage in the media; unfortunately not confined to an informal underground of sun bather. A couple of years ago, the city tried to drain it, due to complaints from nearby homeowners, etc. (The council found it embarassing and risky - it grew like topsy). That effort was stopped, but it looks like they will succeed in closing it this year. The simple blue nose opposition was weathered (Boulder is reasonably liberal), but now people are complaining that exhibitionists and other kinky folk are using it as a sanctuary. I mean the kind that want to get their sexual thrills from shocking others, etc. The problem is that the area can be seen from a housing development and nearby road, and the city doesn't have money for a big fence, so bye bye beach. Point: it may be best if clothing-optional places aren't too heavily publicised. (not referring to the net, but local media). BTW, I've never been to the lake in question; now I suppose I never will. PS: the name was Coot Lake. Another local informal/non-approved skinny dipping lake was removed from that realm when the company I work for built its new offices right next door.
