When I was in college (Rutgers U.), all freshmen had to take gym. Swimming was part of the gym course. They requested everyone swim in the nude and take group nude showers. I never found out why, but my best guess is that they didn't want wet bathing suits hanging in lockers getting moldy and smelly.
