* Does anyone know about the legal status of, local attitudes regarding, or good locations for nude sunbathing on the island of Aruba. I'll be there the week of March 11 and the information might come in handy. Please mail me any replies. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Quarles AT&T Consumer Products ...!ihnp4!hou2h!keith1 Neptune, NJ

I'll use the opportunity to again mention "The World Guide to Nude Beaches and Recreation" by Lee Baxandall. It truly has worldwide information and also points to contacts for updates. One of those contacts is the Nudist Information Center in Long Beach, California. Their "hotline" information number is (213)437-6388. From the "World Guide" second edition, pg.121, the following is reprinted without permission: ARUBA: California Lighthouse Dunes Aruba long languished in the shadow of its sister island, Curacao, best known of the Dutch Antilles off the Venezuelan coast. No longer! Aruban hotel facilities and night life now easily rival those of Curacao, and the beaches are far superior. Aruba's hotels are mostly grouped on the 4-mile Palm Beach north from Oranjestad, on the western shore. Recommended for nude use are the dunes 2 miles north of these hotels, around California Lighthouse at Aruba'a northern tip. Also check the rocky area behind the lighthouse. Rental cars are needed to get around, and beware getting stuck in the sand of the dunes. Aruba is desert in climate; cacti prevail over palms; a constant breeze, however, keeps temperatures in the comfort range. Pete LaMaster NJ (201)949-5009 ihnp4!hou2f!pvlm
