Those of us who don't have access to "official" clothes-optional beaches or private lakes have only one choice left for suitless swimming-- public places that are as off-the-beaten-track as possible. Of course, there's always the risk that others who are not like-minded may wander across your swimming site and be offended by your presence. Fortunately, this hasn't happened to me yet, but now that I've moved to a different part of the country and have to go scouting for new swimming sites, I thought I'd draw up the following sign and post it nearby to offer myself and any unsuspecting visitors a bit of protection. ********************************************************* CAUTION -- nude swimmers ahead. If this bothers you, holler first -- we'll get dressed. We respect your right to use this area without embarrassment. If this doesn't bother you, you're welcome to swim with us -- with or without your suit, however you feel more comfortable. However, please don't join us if you're just here to stare or gawk. Thanks for your consideration. ******************************************************** Obviously, the sign should be conspicuous enough to give adequate advance notice, but not so conspicuous that it attracts sightseers. Are there any other suitless swimmers on the net who have tried something like this and found it provided at least a minimum amount of protection from embarrassing situations? "Man, it's hot here, wish I could be out swimming!"
