>There are nude beaches up and down the California coast. Thus there >are probably 10 between Santo Cruz and San Francisco, etc. However, >be prepared for cold water - you won't be able to go swimming in >the water - only sun bathing. There's a nude beach at the Russian River and the water is warm enough for swimming. I've been there but unfortunately cannot give directions because I don't know the road names. Its near the town of Guerneyville (I massacred the spelling). There is a field to park in for $1. Then follow a path through the trees and bushes alongside the river. Gradually you come to little clearings by the water and groups of people, 3 or 4 people here, 5 or 10 there and 20 or so at bigger clearings. Its possible to even stumble across a volleyball game. There are no signs proclaiming this a nudist area, it just is, I guess by tradition and consensus.

>Can anyone post on net.rec.nude the list of all or any "nude" >beaches and/or parks he knows about, nationwide, with pointers such as, >how to get there? When's the open season? What 's the fee to >get in? Are there any facilities (restaurants, bars,...)? Etc.. May I suggest that you purchase a copy of "The World Guide To Nude Beaches And Recreation" by Lee Baxandall. It is a 240 page guide, that contains descriptions (including legal status) of free beaches throughout the world. It is beautifully printed and illustrated, and is probably the definitive work on this subject. It is available in the travel section of enlightened bookstores - or you can reply by email and I will send you directions on obtaining the book mail order.
