[net.rec.nude] Naturist Chess

sxnahm@ubvax.UUCP (Stephen Nahm) (11/18/85)

Okay, while the 'ebior' discussion gets relegated to net.rec.nude.crypt,
net.rec.nude.paranoia, or maybe net.rec.nude.jokes (net.jokes.nude?),
I'll change the subject a bit.

I have permission from The Naturist Society to post anything from "Clothed
With the Sun" to this group, and I will actually do this occasionally, as
whim, time and spirit moves me.

                Naturist Chess League

The Naturist Chess League is the latest special interest group to join the
listings of the Naturist Network. The request for listing was made with the
explanation:

"Hope there will be nudist interest in postal and over-the-board chess.
Am a memeber of the ASA, The Naturists, Tri State, Metro Naturists, and
     Solar Society."

We responded:

"Wow! naturist chess. That is a new one on us, but why not?

"Will Naturist Chess League memebers play chess in the nude?
Madatorily? Even during correspondence chess? Will there be
modem-mediated games, too, in the nude? Or is the nudity more
     peripheral?

"Will you have sign-ups for tournaments at the nudist resorts and the
     nude beaches of the nation?

"Do you have a position on the elaborately garbed figurines of
chess: The robed royalty and bishops, the rudely dressed pawns,
the fortified castles? Is there a dialectic between the costumed
pieces and the nude movers and shakers?"

To the above, Allan Weisbecker replied matter of factly:

"Interested players should let me know if they wish to play
only one opponent or enter in a four player section. The four
player section will consist of six games. Each player will play two
games with each opponent (one game with white pieces and one game with
black). Moves will be made by post card according to the rules of the
U.S. Chess Federation or the Correspondence Chess League of America.

"Moves should be made while nude to keep the spirit of the game.

"These are meant to be fun contests and the above rules are only to be
enforced if a game gets out of hand! The tournament director will
hopefully solve any problems that arise.

"If you are interested in trying nude postal chess just send me
your name and address and let me know whether you prefer to play an
individual opponent only or to enter the six-game tournament section.

"Hopefully, in the near future over-the-board competitions will
spread to the beaches and sun clubs.

"The only connection I can see between chess and nudity is that they
     are both enjoyable."

[Address not reprinted; participation in Naturist SIGs requires membership.]

[Sounds like just the thing for shy nudists. :-]
