Please add my voice to those who feel that a recent posting seeking models for nude photographic work WAS appropriate for this group. As an occasional naturist and photograper who has taken photos of nude people (and wouldn't mind doing so more often :-) ), I realize that finding models can be a delicate issue. Asking among people who are already known to be comfortable about taking their clothes off seems like a very intelligent thing to do, actually. I agree that the request might also have been put to net.rec.photo; although the readers there seem mostly interested in camera gear. I wonder how many potential MODELS, as opposed to camera users, read net.rec.photo. (Probably the most appropriate group in which this might have been posted were net.jobs!) Perhaps the person who was critical was mostly upset because of the intended use of the photos - for a 'sexy' magazine. If so, please flame the magazines, not the poor person who is trying to solve a problem. As far as the charge of 'pimping' is concerned, that is ridiculous. Photographers should provide some form of recompense for their models, especially if the photos are for commercial use. The higher the commercial value, the more the model should be paid. If the photos are non-commercial, the photographer should at least provide the model with pictures for his/her portfolio (and maybe a glass of wine along the way :-) ). In general, how do readers of this group feel about having their picture taken in the nude? I'm interested mostly in quasi-public situation, such as at a clothing-optional beach. Are you comfortable if a friend takes a picture of you playing frisbee? How about if a stranger (also nude) points a camera at you? Does it matter if the stranger is clothed? Are you comfortable if there is a camera around, even if it's not pointed at you? Are you the kind that loves to have their picture taken anytime (you ham!)? The reason I'm asking is that I sometimes would like to take my camera with me to such places, but don't want to risk offending anyone. Actually, I'd probably mostly use it to take pictures of my wife. Can't wait for that warm weather to come along again... Michael Stimac ...hplabs!oliveb!tymix!stimac
