Well, folks, it's heartworm season again. Now is the time for all dogs to have their blood tested. Be sure to test them before starting or resuming the preventative. If they have some of the larvae, they could go into anaphylactic shock if done wrong. Then give the pills diligently. It's only a few cents a day to prevent a painful killer. I have always used Filaribits. My Cocker loves them; she thinks they're a treat. Virtually every dog likes them, as opposed to other forms of the drug. My vet has recommended a new brand, which he says is cheaper, but just as good and just as palatable. I don't know the name. Does anyone have any comments about this new product? Remember, ALL DOGS SHOULD BE ON HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE. No part of the country is safe. (I don't know about Canada.) If you love your dog, keep him healthy.
