The brewer's yeast solution worked very well for our cat, with only
one drawback. Since my cat has determined my bed as his sleeping
place, I usually ended up with his flees. After around a week, though
the flees just disappeared. If you're fortunate your cat will find a
more convenient spot to deposit its unwanted flees.
Regarding the perpetual cats vs. dogs argument, I obviously favor
cats. While it is true that cats are more aloof than dogs, it is only
because you have to earn a cat's respect, before it accepts you as an
equal. Once the respect is earned the relationship is much more
rewarding with a cat. I found that with most dogs I could gain
as much respect (and sometimes more) than the owner in just a few
minutes. Earning a cat's respect is much harder (especially if the
cat in question is a Siamese, like mine), but this only enhances the
relationship when the respect is finally earned. It is very
satisfying to know that you are the only one your cat will trust
enough to come whenever you call. Dogs can be fun too, after it's
very hard to play Frisbee with your cat. Then again a cat will never
run up to somebody else when they whistle. Would you want a human
friend who accepted anybody as a friend?
