My family is looking for a puppy. Our 14 year veteran died of fright in a thunderstorm last summer and the kids are looking forward to a new dog. We're looking for a dog that's good with kids, even tempered, and large and/or loud enough to give prowlers second thoughts. We have a fairly large yard and house so space (except in our VW) is not a problem. We are considering what to get and are leaning toward a golden retriever. Does anyone know advantages or disadvantages of the breed? Is this one of the breeds that has been overbred, has hip displasia, for instance? Any good breeders in the central Ohio area, cost we should expect to pay, etc? Thanks, Bob Warren cbosgd!rew
