As a new cat owner, I would be interested in seeing the
replies concerning shed hair... I've tried brushing, but
it doesn't seem to help (besides, he isn't terribly fond
of this!). Any hints?

Believe it or not, I use the vacuum on all my cats and it helps alot. I also find it hard to imagine that a cat doesn't like to be brushed. Shedding is greater on cats that spend a great portion of their time outside.

Hints? You want hints? Isn't it obvious? We've owned 5 cats and never had a problem -- just give 'em a good coat of laquer and you're worry-free forever! -Mike genrad!mit-eddie!zzz (UUCP) ZZZ%MIT-OZ@MIT-MC (ARPA)

I, too, find it difficult to believe that there is a cat that doesn't like to be brushed. My (5) cats all live for the experience. On the other hand, there is not a cat to be found when the vacuum cleaner is turned on!! All my cats are house cats and don't get outside much. The temperature is fairly stable as well as the humidity. All of them shed like I needed a fur coat!! They are fed dietary cat food, both dry/moist and canned. So far, I haven't found anything that stops shedding - I just try to keep up with cleaning it all up!!!
