From: tekecs!tomb (Tom Beach) Plexiglass is somebody's trademark for acrylic sheet. Acrylic is a bad choice for domestic use because it is flammable. UL prohibits its use in any electrical/electronic equipment. Polycarbonate is better "Lexan" is a common tradename. Either is very soft and as a result scratches very easily. Your dog will mark it with his/her feet and if you're not *VERY* careful cleaning it you'll mark it in cleaning. I had a lexan sheet I covered my back door with in winter as a "storm door" and after about 3 years it developed a nice frosted look. It is definately durable, however, and you wouldn't have to worry about your dog jumping through it.
