Regarding cortisone shots and dogs. Our 12 year old Sptiz-mix has arthritis in his spine and every 5 or 6 months it will act up and he cries and holds his back very stiff. We give him a shot of Depo-Medrol instead of Prednizone. (My wife is a physician so we avoid the vet fees after the vet told us what the treatment was) Anyway, my wife says the excessive water drinking is not common with prednizone but is however, one of the side effects. We see no problems with Depo-Medrol, except that last time I gave PuChee 0.5 cc instead of 0.3cc and now he acts like a two year old and is trying to molest the cat (the cat is an "it - nutered"). If you are having problems with Pred. then try changing to something like DM. Remember also that antibiotics like erythromycin wipe out all the little bugs in the gut and can also cause excessive urination. This happens in people too. d.l. philen akgua!dlp AT&T Bell Laboratories, Atlanta
