[net.pets] Large Dogs in Apartments

I am going to be moving into an apartment shortly.  For years I have
wanted to get a dog -- not one of those little "toy" dogs, but a
malmute or a golden retriever.  Most of the apartments that do permit
dogs do not permit dogs over 15 pounds.  Has anyone had any success in
convincing the management to allow one in your apartment?  If so, what
was your technique for convincing?

If you have had a golden retriever or a malmute (not necessarily in an
apartment), please write me and let me know what characteristics to
look for in the dogs -- just some generalities, nothing specific.
