I am looking for information on the above subject. In particular,
I need to know;
1. How old (and how big) do Oscars have to be before they
can be reliably sexed?
2. What external signs can be used to sex them?
3. Once sexed, what precautions must be followed during
breeding (e.g., when breeding Kribensis, the female is
usually introduced into the breeding tank before the male,
and once the eggs have been laid, the male is usualy
removed to protect his health).
4. Should one start with any certain ratio of males to
females, or is one pair suitable?
5. Are there any special conditions that are required to
encourage spawning? (i.e., sexy undies for the female...)
6. Once spawning is accomplished, are the fish really good
good parents like the books say?
7. Do the babies require any special attention?
Please reply my mail (If anyone else is interested, just let me know
by mail, and I will send you all the info I get!).
Thanx,
Ron Lewen (ihpn4!tellab1!rcl)
