I have a 2 year old male (neutered) that has muscle spasms whenever he lays down and relaxes. These are whole-body spasms much like the 'shivers' that people get when cold. They occur only rarely when he is asleep. He has had these since he was a kitten. So far, he doesn't show any signs of knowing he has them and they haven't caused any problem with normal cat activities (they stop when he gets up and goes about his normal cat stuff). Also, when he gets real happy and gets his 'motor running', his head will give a sharp jerk every now and then. I think he has some kind of nerve disorder, but when I asked the vet about it, he said not to worry. Well, I do. Does anybody know a good cat vet they could ask about this? The vet I take my cats to is primarily a large animal vet (cows, horses, etc.) and doesn't get too concerned about cats. As a second choice, has anyone else had a cat with this sort of 'problem'? BTW, I have four other cats (1 male and 3 females) that do not exhibit this behavio(u)r. They are all house cats and don't go outside unless under supervision.
