I have two Texas Tortoises (Harold and Hazel) There used to be a Maude (box turtle) but she has disappeared and never been found! Harold had lived alone for apprximately 13 years before I took him into my household. One year later I "adopted", yes, adopted, through the Calif. Fish and Game, a female....Hazel. Harold was delighted... Three months later Hazel laid 2 eggs which are now in my living room incubating (due to hatch, if fertile, around 20 December). This weekend (Oct. 28) Hazel presented me with another egg. Does anybody know just how long this egg laying procedure goes on?. I thought Hazel would attempt to hibernate this time of year rather than spend her time laying eggs. Has anybody had luck in propagating Texas Tortoises? Brenda Ramsey ramsey@ucla.LOCUS
