I'm sorry about your cat. My cat's vet said a month. Various books said a month and one also said: "disinfect everything in the house the cat came in contact with". I waited two months and cleaned the windows and sitting surfaces at the windows with disinfectant. I also disgarded all food and water dishes and toys. That was nearly two years ago, and my new cat is still healthy. The virus supposedly dies in the open air in some relatively short time. There's also a school of thought that says fleas are one of the means of transmission, so I'd have your house and yard treated if that's a problem. Karen
