[net.pets] spaying/neutering pets

bjc@drutx.UUCP (CampbellBJ) (04/03/85)

I am really tired of hearing from pet owners who think that just
because they have found homes for the litter of cats or dogs,
there is no harm in not getting their pets spayed or neutered.
Actually, they are harming the chances of the thousands of
unwanted pets out there of being adopted.

I receive the newsletter from the Denver Dumb Friends League, and if
these figures are not enough to get your animals to the vets office
for their spaying or neutering, I don't know what will:

  "October thru December, 1984
   ANIMALS RECEIVED: ADOPTED OR RECLAIMED:
     Dogs 3401 Dogs 1408
     Cats 3684 Cats 1132
     Other 127 Other 56
  " - (Quoted without permission)

So what do you people think happens to those unwanted animals??????

C'mon, be responsible pet owners!!!!

And to those of you who think that spaying or neutering will make your
pet sluggish and fat, I can state from firsthand knowledge that this
is patently NOT TRUE. My 8 1/2 yr. old neutered male nips his 1 1/2
yr. old neutered male companion to start a game of chase just as often
as the other way around. Neither of them have a weight problem.

Thanks. As a concerned pet lover I feel rather strongly about this
in case you couldn't guess.

If you want to flame me, please feel free (I love mail).
