I am planning to get two female guinea pigs and I would like some information on food, shelter and general care. If you know anything about guinea pigs, please send me mail, or post it on the board. Thanks, Andrew Rahme hardware@watmath

I just wanted to put in my two cents about Guinea Pigs. My first real pet was a Guinea Pig and I have special affection for the little critters. I think they are a great pet, especially for kids if you can't get then a dog or cat. They need a fairly good size cage though. They do poop a lot and their food and water must be kept clean. The care for rabbits and Guineas is very similar. A water bottle is the best idea so that they wont spill it and it wont get dirty. Mine was kept inside but I guess you could keep them outside depending on the weather. They need to be protected from other animals however. Any pet store will have a book on Guinea Pigs. My first Guinea was named Brownie and he lived for about 4 years or so. We even used to take him on trips in the car.....don't let them get loose around bushes though 'cuz they can run!! karen
