A couple of weeks ago, I posted an article about my 8 month old puppy, Rocky, who was chewing holes in the wall during the day in the room he was kept in. Our other dog, Clover, has the run of the house. Well, I received a few responses saying we should take him out of the room and let him be with his father, Clover, because he was angry at being locked in. Yesterday (Monday) we decided to leave him the run of the house (I'd like to mention right now that we do leave him plenty of toys). He did just fine and we were real happy. Today we did the same thing. My husband came home early, and found that Rocky had ripped up a lot of the carpet in our living room. What do we do now? Now we can't trust him while we are away, and he'll have to go back to his room. During the evening and the weekends he has the run of the house and is fine. We were hoping that leaving him with Clover would alleviate the problem, but a chewed up rug shows that it didn't help. HELP!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! If you'll recall, I never stated that you should *ever* leave the two dogs alone for the balance of a normal day. When I read what you did, I already knew the outcome. Please work this problem out on a weekend in controlled conditions for a few minutes at a time and work up gradually. There is no easy way out of this. Think about crate training also. -- ============================================================================== Jeff Cushner @ Citicorp-TTI Santa Monica CA 90405 (213) 450-9111 x2273 {vortex, philabs}!ttidca!ttidcb!cushner
