Does anyone on the net have any experience with English Bulldogs? My 4 month old dog just had a "haw" removed from each eye on Tues 11th, for those who may not be familiar with the term "haw" it is the inflammation of the Hardian gland (lymphatic tissue in the 3rd eyelid). This condition is not particular to bulldogs alone, I am told other breeds with collapsed faces are prone to haws (pugs, boxers, bull mastiffs). I am concerned as to the cause of condition. I was hoping to show and breed Morgan in the future as he looks very good (for a bulldog). If however haws are hereditary I would not feel comfortable in passing along the trait. The condition did not bother Morgan at all (in fact it bothered me more) he just looked terrible having these pink balls covering the lower part of his eyes. They were removed surgically (after two medications proved of little use) and I am told he will not miss his hardian glands at all (they were compared to our tonsils). Is there anyone who has experience with this problem, any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Matt Hill P.S. Any other English Bulldog lovers out there?
