[net.pets] free kitten

klick@ihuxu.UUCP (Vickie Klick) (03/19/84)

We were adopted by a kitten last night (it's hard to leave them
out in the cold when they look so hungry...). I would prefer
to find him a home rather than take him to the humane society,
and we already have a cat and a dog, so... He seems very friendly
and quite young (but weaned). If you are looking for a pet, please
call me.

There's another free kitten available in the Chicago area - contact
      Margaret Smith
      312-945-2404
      Deerfield, Ill.
The cat is not yet full grown, perfectly trained, and the sweetest thing
you've ever seen! She is a black velvet beauty, and is living with 4 other
cats with whom she gets along fine. She is also fond of people. She needs
a home QUICKLY, as Margaret can't keep her much longer - 4 is really enough.
                                 PLEASE TAKE HER

Anyone interested in an adorable, free female kitten, approximately
2 months old please contact me. I recently found her and brought
her to the vet to make sure that she was healthy. My cat doesn't
like other cats so I can't keep her. I would really like to find
her a good home. She very friendly and very pretty (black with
some white and brown).

RE : Wendys offer of a kitten because her original cat
doesn't like her.

Whenever a new kitten is introduced into a home already
containing cats, there will be disputes and the fur may fly
for a week or two as everyone gets to know each other. We
just recently lost one of our cats due to kidney failure
and have just introduced a new kitten into the house. The
dog ( a shepherd/retriever mix) has adjusted the quickest
to the new kitten but due to his size we watch to make sure
he doesn't get too rough.
The two existing cats are a different story, they are
aloof and not at all interested in the kitten until the
kitten starts exploring and comes across them. Then they
start hissing at each other and a couple of times Sheba
(4 year cat) has bopped the kitten with her paw. The
kitten occasionally gets a swing in and due to the fact that
SHE still has her front claws gets a little bit of respect.

Based on past experience we expect this behaviour to moderate
over the next two weeks until it drops off to total play
fighting levels.
