[net.pets] A public service announcement

cushner@ttidcb.UUCP (Jeffrey Cushner) (08/21/85)

Too many puppies and older dogs (and cats) are lost everyday and are
either killed, join feral packs or are taken in by others.

Occasionally, a helpful person will take them in and try to find where
the dog has come from, with no success.

If they're not lazy, they may take the animal to the shelter, but more
often than not, when an animal is found without identification, the
finder will release it.

This is a plea for all pet owners (mainly dogs and cats) to tag their
charges with the owners Name, Address and Phone No. at your earliest
convenience.

As soon as you get a puppy, be it even 6 weeks old, get an ID tag and
a ribbon collar.

The life you save may be your pet's.

Here is one possible wording for a pet tag:

Hello. I am a cat [dog]. My name is Fuzzo [or whatever].
	I live at:

		[insert address here]

If found, drop in any mail box.
	Return postage guaranteed.

Wait a minute, that's not quite right....
