[MEOW!] I just tried out something new (to me) last night - a flea comb. It's great! I have 2 fleabag kittens who are too young to be treated with any affective flea goop. Someone told me about flea combs. It's a stainless steel comb with teeth that are very close together. You comb their fur, and it catches the little buggers in the teeth. Knock the fleas off into a bowl of water with detergent in it to kill the fleas. I combed for 45 minutes and caught 130 fleas. I'm sure I didn't get all of them, it sure did help! -- Kathy Moore Georgia Insitute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 ...!{akgua,allegra,amd,hplabs,ihnp4,masscomp,ut-ngp}!gatech!gitpyr!kathy

My two Burmese, although kept indoors, still manage to get infested with fleas every summer. I tried flea powder, non-toxic shampoo, toxic shampoo, nuking the house, even Avon's Skin-So-Soft (a net hint from last year!) to no avail. Then I got a flea comb and bowl of water - it's great! And the cats love it - they get to stay dry, they *love* being combed (they go into a blissful trance, purring like crazy) and end up flea-free and silky smooth. Of course, Burmese are short-haired - I'm not sure I'd want to try this technique on a long-haired Persian... -- rod williams | {ihnp4,dual}!ptsfa!ptsfc!rjw ------------------------------------------- pacific bell | san ramon | california

Fleas tend to jump a lot. How do you get them to stay on the comb and get them into water. You most likely have them in your house yet. Joe

Some people have asked where they can get flea combs. Any good pet shop should have them. I got mine at a pet store, and I have seen them in a 5 & 10 type store that had a pet section. The comb I got cost $7.20. As far as where they can be ordered, I don't know, but this is the information that was on the package: Lambert Kay Pet Comb by Twinco Lambert Kay Division of Carter-Wallace, Inc.
