For anyone interested in tropical fish, the Bama Betta Club (a chapter of
the International Betta Congress) has established a BBS dedicated to
aquariums and fish keeping. The system provides electronic mail, news and
public messages, and a file system filled with tropical fish articles. News
and file areas are set up for general discussions, saltwater, plants,
product reviews, diseases and maintenance, photography, and the breeding and
keeping of individual species. A goal of the system is to provide
justification for the establishment of a CompuServe "Forum" (special
interest group).
Several "big names" in the hobby are already using the BBS. The driving
force behind the effort is IBC member John Benn. The IBC is also
represented by President Steve Saunders and Judging Board Chairman Phil
Byrum. Harvey Cohen of Nektonics is on the systems, as is Don Dewey, Editor
and Publisher of Freshwater and Marine Aquarium magazine (FAMA). Tony
Terceira, a contributing editor of FAMA, is another user.
