Recently, I have had an unusual problem with my Lynx. When I was returning from Syarcuse after picking it up from a garage (broken windshield, long story, don't ask) the engine light would come on when I removed my foot from the accelerator when preparing to stop. Then engine did not actually stall, but the engine speed was really low. Upping the idle speed had no effect on the light and I didn't notice a great difference in engine speed. I have few instruments, mostly idiot lights, so I judge by sound. What is even more strange, is that after a day or two back in Rochester, the problem seemingly disappeared, only to reappear a week later. I do not know of any defects in the '82 model, but there is definitely something wrong. By the way, I bought the car over the summer and it has close to 90,000 miles on it. One of my friends seems to think it is the vacuum advance, but I'm not sure that is the problem. One thing I forgot to mention; the light has come on both when the engine was cold and when it was hot so the problem is most likely not temperature related. Any suggestions as to the cause(s) of the problem or reports of similar experiences are greatly appreciated. Reapond via mail at: ...seismo!rochester!ur-tut!sag2 Thanks in advance Steven Grotten P.S. Any recommendations for a good used car? I am thinking of trading this summer. What about late 70's or early 80's Celica's? I am thinking primarily of a smaller car, but not a compact if possible. Thanks again. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Attention. Attention. Failure to comply will result in prosecution for criminal drug evasion.
