I have a question. From reading previous msgs on this newsgroup, it seems that MIT has something going on where people can log on and transfer software. Is this true? And if it is, how would I, a mere user be able to access this software? Sorry to be so ignorant but I couldn't hold myself in check any longer. Kimf

From: Frank J. Wancho <FJW@mit-mc> If a person already has an account on MC, that person automatically has access to everything on MC, including the rather large collection of CP/M-related files currently kept here. Other folks with accounts on other machines on the ARPANET can also access the same files, but only via the FTP protocol/program. They can transfer any file to their home machine and then download the file to their micro. If your host is not on the net, then you might be able to access some of the same files in net.sources or other similar mechanism. If all else fails, you can probably access some Remote CP/M system near you and grab these files from there. Almost all of these files either originated on some RCP/M machine or eventually migrate there if they originate from some author on the net. As an alternate, if you're not in a hurry, you can eventually obtain these files from either the SIG/M or CPMUG collections - where, again, some of these files started their life. The Bottom Line: you don't have to have access to MIT-MC to get these files. --Frank
